ThinkPlugin (“we”, “us”, “our”) develops plugins and apps for WordPress, WooCommerce, and Shopify stores, including Think Smart Discounts and ThinkCaptcha Pro (collectively, the “Products”). This Privacy Policy explains what information our Products collect, how we use it, and the rights you have. It applies to all users of our website (thinkplugin.com) and our Products.

We take a standardized approach and apply the same privacy protections to all users, regardless of location, in line with regulations such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).

1. Who this policy covers

  • Merchants / store owners who install and use our Products.
  • Visitors to our website.
  • Our Products are designed to operate without collecting personal data of your customers (end shoppers)wherever possible. Where a Product needs to process data, it is described below.

2. Information we collect

a) Website visitors

When you visit thinkplugin.com, purchase a license, or contact us, we may collect: your name, email address, billing details, and basic technical data (such as IP address and browser type) through standard analytics and our payment processor.

b) WordPress / WooCommerce plugins

Our WordPress and WooCommerce plugins run on your own website and server. They generally process store data (such as product prices, discount rules, and cart contents) locally within your WordPress installation to apply discounts and rules. We do not transmit your store’s customer data to our servers as part of normal plugin operation. For license validation and updates, the plugin may send your site URL and license key to our servers.

c) Shopify app (Think Smart Discounts)

When you install our Shopify app, it accesses only the data required to function, using the permissions you approve during installation. This may include store information, product and pricing data, and discount configurations. The app stores your app settings and configuration, and the information needed to authenticate your store (such as an access token and shop domain). Our app is not designed to collect or store your customers’ personal data.

3. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Products;
  • Apply the discount rules, pricing, and features you configure;
  • Validate licenses and deliver updates;
  • Provide customer support and respond to your requests;
  • Process payments and prevent fraud;
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data.

4. Data sharing

We share data only with service providers that help us operate, such as:

  • Payment processors (for purchases and license billing);
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers (to run our services);
  • Shopify (where our app operates within the Shopify platform).

These providers are permitted to use your data only to perform services on our behalf. We may also disclose information where required by law.

5. Data retention

We retain information only as long as needed to provide the Products, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you uninstall a Product or close your account, we delete or anonymize the associated data within a reasonable period, except where retention is legally required.

6. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you;
  • Request correction or deletion of your data;
  • Object to or restrict certain processing;
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format;
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To exercise these rights, contact us at [info@thinkplugin.com]. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.

Shopify data requests

For our Shopify app, Shopify may send us mandatory compliance requests on your behalf (customers/data_request, customers/redact, shop/redact). We handle these requests as required by Shopify and applicable privacy law.

7. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers in accordance with applicable law.

9. Children’s privacy

Our Products are intended for business use and are not directed to individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Continued use of our Products after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
